Customer Service, part two

…way better this time.

so i see this necklace on the forum, and think that it’d look nice with my wife’s new dress, and go to grab it for her…
only that its no transfer and there are no gift vendors or anything, so i’m IMing the owner…
… and she actually sends my wife the full fatpack, 10 colors or more, for the price of one… THAT is customer service dedication…

The store in quesion is Milk Motion at Cupcake

Two new boats…

…ok, the first one is not that new:

WildWind VOJ-70

a few details:

  • huge genaker
  • canting keel
  • race wind

sails very nicely and fast, good for long distance racing, not so good for explorative cruising because it has a rather huge turning circle… I’d hate to take that monster up the mallard.

the other boat is the

Flying Fizz 3.0…

a few details:

  • no “sail by numbers” anymore, the first boat with actually working telltales in the sails
  • real heeling
  • tasks distributable to crew

this boat will make for interesting racing…

Stupid Mall Owners

So there’s this mall owner, advertizing a “super realistic new fashion store”, and all you get when you try to go there is “Sorry, you do ont have access to that teleport destination”.

Try it yourself here.

Customer Service… or not?

Just a moment ago:
[6:16]  Lance Corrimal: [6:14] [ hoorenbeek ] SL Exchange Magic Box 02 owned by Limer Fredriksson gave you ‘[ hoorenbeek ] Patagonia Boots – Black Leather’ ( http://slurl.com/secondlife/JT%20World%20VI/63/141/321 ).
[6:14] Xstreet SL Central Authority: LapisLazuli Tomorrow has given you a gift of “Mens Boots Timberland like – Black Leather” from XstreetSL.com!

…or in other words, that stupid boot has a completely different name on xstreetSL than it has in the in-world shop, and in my inv. So now i have it twice. Doesn’t really help much, especially since the shoes are copyabe anyways.

So, I’m trying to talk to the owner of the shop.
After telling him what happened…

“[6:25]  Ansor Hoorenbeek: ok, but she bought the black leather boots and you receive the black leather boots
[6:25]  Lance Corrimal: yep
[6:26]  Lance Corrimal: you could at least name the stuff in slx with the actual item names
[6:27]  Lance Corrimal: so that ppl dont buy stuff more than once.”

… now he stopped talking at all.

great attitude.

how about putting up the very same shoe on SLX under ten different names, just with the picture matching the item… and people might buy ten copies of the same shoe and it’d be “perfectly ok” since they got what the picture was showing.

Save our OpenSpace

On Monday, October 27, Linden Labs announced a massive increase in the prices for so-called “OpenSpace” sims, which are basically sims with reduced power, which were used by many people to have “their own island” for a lower price.
Read the full announcement here.

This caused major concern and protest among customers (What linden labs calls “residents”, to hide the fact that those people are the ones that pay for the grid), mainly because the increase is seriously hefty (66%), yes, TWO-THIRDS, which will cause lots of private estates to disappear.
One of them might be the USS-SC area, a cluster of roughly guessed 130 sims mainly used for sailing.

To protest against the price raise, on Wednesday a group of sailors held a marathon cruise through the whole area, most of them using special sails that had been created to voice the protest against said price rise.

There’s a JIRA entry that uses the votes as a counter of how many people don’t like the price rise here.

Here are a few pictures of the event, a video of the event is here.

Wedding at sea…

Last saturday, there was a nice little ceremony at Union Passage:
Kirby Jameson and Sidney Sheldon got married on board of his Trudeau Tradewind…
Rick Wake of cobblestone vineyard fame was officiating, and as usual did a tremendous job on it.
